Title: Nonequilibrium Dynamics of Pinned Elastic Lattices: Moving Smectic and Transversely Driven Charge-Density Waves
Abstract:
After a brief introduction to the problem, I will describe
our recent progress in understanding the dynamics of driven
periodic media, as realized for example in vortex lattices,
Wigner crystals and charge density waves (CDW). I will
then apply this insight to the study of CDW's, driven
transversely to the 2kF ordering direction, and show
that nonequilibrium dynamic effects are drammatic, even
when the collective CDW state is stationary.
