Title: Transport Properties and Density of States of Quantum Wires with Off-diagonal Disorder
Abstract: I consider the random hopping model for a quantum wire consisting of N coupled chains. This system shows a delocalization transition at the center of the band if and only if the number of chains N is odd. The delocalization transition at the band center is accompanied by a singularity in the density of states, which also depends strongly on the parity of N. The theory is compared to numerical simulations.
