Towards a search for the nuclear Schiff moment of 207Pb in a ferroelectric

Abstract: A recently proposed search for the nuclear Schiff moment of 207Pb [1,2] has the statistical sensitivity 4 or more orders of magnitude better than the current best limit on the nuclear Schiff moment of 199Hg. Preliminary measurements of residual magnetization, and spin-lattice relaxation times down to the temperature of 10 K confirm the feasibility of this experiment, and demonstrate that it may be possible to achieve an even better sensitivity than previously expected.
