The Yale Center for Astronomy and Astrophysics invites applications for a postdoctoral position in cosmology to work with Professor Nikhil Padmanabhan.

The focus of the group is on theoretical and observational cosmology, with current interests in large scale structure as applied to dark energy (in particular, baryon oscillations and redshift space distortions) and galaxy evolution. The group is also very involved with the Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey, part of SDSS-III. An ideal candidate would have interests overlapping any of these areas; a Ph.D. in physics/astrophysics or related fields is a prerequisite.

Conveniently located between New York City and Boston, Yale University offers a world-class intellectual environment and access to front-line astronomical facilities, including High-Performance Computing facilities, access to the Keck, WIYN, and SMARTS telescopes, and astronomical facilities in Chile (through collaboration with the Universidad de Chile).
Yale is also a full member of the SDSS-III collaboration.

Applications consisting of a cover letter, curriculum vitae, publication list, and a brief (2-3 page) description of research interests and plans should arrive by Jan 1, 2010.

Applicants should also arrange for three letters of recommendation to arrive by the same date. Email all materials, including letters, in pdf format to nikhil.padmanabhan@yale.edu.

Applicants for the YCAA postdoctoral position (AAS job register#25798) will be automatically considered for the position unless otherwise indicated.
Yale University is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer, and we particularly encourage applications from women and members of minority groups.
